Dr James Forbes
Pain Management Specialist

MBChB, FANZCA, FFPMFANZCA

I’m Dr. James Forbes, a specialist in Pain Medicine with a background in both anaesthetics and pain management. My medical journey began in Bristol, before I moved to Australia to complete advanced training in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine. During this time, I undertook Fellowships at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where I worked closely with patients in both anaesthetics and multidisciplinary pain clinics. This experience gave me a strong foundation in helping people manage pain from many different causes and walks of life.

Since 2022, I’ve been working in private practice, and I’m currently based at Northern Beaches Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital in Sydney, NSW. I enjoy supporting people through every stage of their care, whether they are dealing with long-term chronic pain or acute pain that is interfering with daily life. My approach is focused on listening to each person’s story, understanding their needs, and offering treatments that are tailored to them.

I specialise in a wide range of interventional pain treatments. These include spinal injections such as facet joint, transforaminal, and epidural injections, as well as radiofrequency therapies. I also provide joint treatments for the shoulder, knee, and hip, along with sympathetic blocks and nerve blocks for more targeted relief. My goal is always to use the most effective techniques to reduce pain, restore function, and improve quality of life.

Helping people move past pain and get back to the things that matter most is at the heart of why I do this work.
